Standard Digital Centrex Features:
The following three features are provided on all administrative telephone
numbers. Each feature is initiated by activating your instrument switchook
flash device. The user should hear a short spurt of dial tone followed
by a steady dial tone if this function is performed properly. The term
'switchook' refers to the receiver buttons on which the handset rests
when not in use. Newer telephone systems have a substitute for the term
'switchook' such as link, tap, or flash. Consult your specific telephone
system user guide or contact us for more
information.
NOTE: If you are unable to complete any of the following
three call features due to a busy line or no answer on the called telephone
number, simply activate the switchook flash twice to be reconnected
to the original caller.
- Call Transfer
To transfer a call, depress the switchook flash, dial the second party,
wait for one ring or announce the call, and hang up. The call will
be transferred automatically.
- Consultation Hold
To consult with another party while on an existing call is in progress,
activate the switchook flash and dial the second party. You may now
talk to the second party in private. When the second party hangs up,
activate the switchook flash and to return to your original call.
- Three-Way Conversation
To add another party to an existing call, activate the switchook flash
to place the first party on hold, dial the second party, and when
the second party answers activate the switchook flash to bring the
first party back in to the conversation. Any party can hang up without
disrupting the conversation, providing one of the two remaining parties
is using an on-campus telephone number.
